Archive material and source history
Mic Geronimo, born Derrick Gerome, came up in the Bronx in the early 1990s. He put out his debut EP 'The Natural' in 1990, and a couple years later signed with Def Jam. That's when 'Mama I Just Killed a Man' came out, a single that got a lot of attention for its heavy subject matter.
After that song, he released three studio albums: 'The Sun and the Moon' in 1994, 'Vendetta' in 1999, and 'The True' in 2003. Other tracks like 'Be Like Mic' and 'Criminal Warfare '99' showed up on those records. He worked mostly as a solo artist but did some collaborations along the way.
