A German vocalist who shaped progressive metal before going solo and returning to the band that made him famous.
For the classic Helloween sound, 'Dr. Stein' or 'Keeper Of The Seven Keys' are the places to start. His solo track 'Always' shows the quieter side he explored later on.
Kiske's voice defined Helloween's 'Keeper of the Seven Keys' albums in the late '80s, giving songs like 'A Tale That Wasn't Right' their soaring, melodic edge. That sound helped push the band beyond Germany and into the wider metal scene. Even after he left in 1993, his solo work and later reunion kept that connection alive for fans.
He joined Helloween in 1987 and sang on their key 'Keeper' records. After leaving the band, he put out his own material, including the album 'Past in Different Ways' in 2008. He came back to Helloween for their 2017 tour and has also worked with the project Avantasia.
