She made several albums in the 1960s, including "Michele Wankenne: Jazz Samba" in 1965 and "Bossa Nova at Carnegie Hall" in 1966. She worked with musicians like Stan Getz and Luiz Bonfá. Some critics at the time compared her style to Astrud Gilberto's.
Wankenne eventually retired from performing. Her recording of "Corcovado" remains the track people know her by.
