Mictian

Mictian came together in Mexico City when Hector Maceda, who had classical training, started working with Alejandro Franco, who made electronic music on his own. They put together electronic production with traditional Mexican instruments, which gave them a particular sound that wasn't exactly mainstream. Their song 'I Don't Know Who I Am' got some attention for how it handled questions about identity.

Their first album was self-titled, and they followed it with records called 'Nahuatl' and 'Mexica.' Those kept exploring the space between electronic textures and more rooted musical elements, though not everyone was convinced by the combination. The music had its own mood, with tracks like 'Lost Soul' and 'Melancholic Fate' leaning into somber, reflective territory.
