Lament

As I stood in the shade there beside him

and as eyes turned to a paler shade of crimson

as I felt cold blood waves running down my spine

then I knew he wouldn't return

Maybe I should have known (better)

some things we just have to bear

I thought I could - still can't

I saw it all coming down
