The Mighty Mighty Bosstones formed in Boston in the late 1980s, with Dicky Barrett on vocals. Their 1991 debut album was 'Devil's Night Out,' but it was 1997's 'Let's Face It' that broke through, anchored by the single 'The Impression That I Get.' That song reached the top of the alternative charts.
After their label Mercury Records filed for bankruptcy in 1998, the band started their own imprint, Big Rig Records. They put out albums like 'Pay Attention' in 2000 and 'Medium Rare' in 2003. A later track, 'Numbered Days,' appears in their catalog.
The group's lineup included Joe Gittleman on saxophone and Kevin Lenear on trumpet alongside Barrett. Their 2004 album 'A Jackknife to a Swan' addressed political topics, which stirred some discussion at the time.
