Miguel Brito Rebelo was born in Lisbon in 1950. In the early 1970s, he co-founded the band Os Faíscas, whose electric guitar riffs and socially conscious lyrics emerged during Portugal's turbulent political era.
After Os Faíscas dissolved, Rebelo began a solo career. In 1981, he released the album "Rosa e Chico," which included the title track "A Rosa e o Chico." The song became his most recognized work, a ballad about forbidden love that remains widely known in Portugal.
His other songs include "Até Ao Fim do Fim," "É Noite Na Mouraria," and "Oiça Lá Ó Senhor Vinho." Rebelo's outspoken nature and politically charged lyrics sometimes drew criticism, but he maintained a commitment to his artistic expression.
