Milton Patakas was a Brazilian band from Curitiba that formed in the late 1990s. The trio consisted of Milton Guedes on vocals and guitar, Patrícia Carvalho on saxophone, and Kiko Mendes on percussion. Their sound mixed samba, rock, funk, and experimental jazz in a way that didn't fit neatly into any single category.
They became known nationally in 2002 with the song "Três Minutos," a ballad about unrequited love that connected with listeners across Brazil. The track's melody and lyrics gave the band a sudden level of recognition that shaped their next few years.
After their breakthrough, Milton Patakas released several albums including O Enigma in 2005 and Língua na Boca in 2008. Their performances and lyrics sometimes drew criticism from conservative groups, and one concert was canceled in 2006 due to pressure from religious organizations. They kept recording and performing, putting out a collection called Coleção in 2010 and a twentieth-anniversary album in 2020.
