Milva

Maria Ilva Biolcati, known as Milva, was born in Goro, Italy in 1939. She started performing locally as a teenager, and by the early 1960s had caught the attention of producer Elio Gigante. Her debut single 'Ciao, ciao, bambina! (Piove)' became a hit in Italy.

Milva's voice worked across different styles, from opera to popular music to Italian folk songs. She performed at venues like Paris's Olympia and New York's Carnegie Hall. Some of her recordings include 'Ein Kommen Und Gehen' and 'La Cumparsita'.

Her stage presence and red hair earned her the nickname 'the Red Lady of Song.' She sometimes faced criticism for her costumes and outspoken views, but kept performing for decades.
