Mingas

Mingas formed in South Africa in the late 1980s with Gloria Bosman on lead vocals, Jeff Maluleke on keyboards and vocals, and John Selolwane on drums and vocals. Their music blended traditional melodies with modern rhythms, and they released their first album in 1989. That album included the song "Xikhongolotana," which became their signature track.

During the apartheid era, Mingas faced censorship and political pressure because of their lyrics. They continued performing despite these challenges, and their music resonated with many South Africans. The band's lineup expanded over time to include Andries Masondo on bass guitar and Harold Makopo on guitar.

Mingas released several albums after their debut, including "A Luta Continua" in 1994 and "Rhythm of Our Lives" in 2007. Their sound evolved while maintaining its connection to traditional South African music. The group has performed for decades, with Bosman, Maluleke, and Selolwane remaining core members throughout.
