Archive material and source history
Minho formed in São Paulo in the late 1970s, led by songwriter and vocalist Ronaldo Cruz. They released their debut album, "Brasil é o País do Samba," in 1981.
Their 1983 album "Cassino Brasil" gave them their signature song of the same name, which became something of an anthem. The band's lineup remained fairly stable, with Cruz joined by guitarist Antônio Carlos, bassist Ricardo Vendrame, and keyboardist Jorge Joaquim. They worked with artists like Chico Buarque and Caetano Veloso.
Their song "Feliz Em Vê-lo Em Seu Jeitinho Brasileiro" continued in this vein. They were nominated for Best Album at the Prêmio Sharp for their debut.
