Pedras Vivas formed in São Paulo, Brazil in 1985, started by Alexandre Malaquias and Renata Malaquias. Their song 'Pai Nosso (Our Father)' became widely known in Christian music circles. They've recorded other tracks like 'Ó Noite Santa' and 'Bondade de Deus'.
Their music has sometimes drawn criticism from more conservative religious groups for its approach to worship. In 2010, there was an incident where protesters disrupted a concert in Porto Alegre, though the band continued playing.
They've released albums including 'Pedras Vivas' in 1997, 'Águas' in 2000, and 'Amor e Fé' in 2005. The current lineup includes Alexandre Malaquias on vocals and guitar, Renata Malaquias on vocals and piano, Marcelo Fróes on bass, and Carlos Fernan.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
