Ministério Soma formed in São Paulo in 2003, with Robson Fonseca as lead vocalist. The group includes Bruno Costa on bass, Thiago Rodrigues on keyboards, and Alexandre Moreira on drums. Their debut album came out in 2006, sharing its name with the track 'Deixo Tudo'.
That song became a national hit in Brazil, helping establish the band's presence in contemporary Christian music there. They've since released several other albums, like 'Momento Inesperado' in 2009 and 'Sou Teu' in 2011.
In 2010, the band dealt with a legal dispute over music ownership with a former record label. Some conservative religious groups also criticized their modern approach to worship music. The lineup later expanded to include André Alves on lead guitar and Júnior Souza on rhythm guitar.
