Ministério SPA formed in São Paulo, Brazil during the mid-1990s, founded by siblings Cássia and Jean Spazziani. Their debut album 'Ministério SPA Vol. 1' came out in 1998. The group's sound developed within Brazil's Christian music community, with Cássia and Jean handling vocals and Jean also playing guitar.
Their song 'Tua Presença Me Faz Livre' appeared in 2003 and became widely known in Christian circles. Other tracks like 'Preso Ao Teu Amor' and 'Tu És Santo' also gained attention. The band's lineup at one point included Paulo César Baruk on bass and Armando Filho on drums alongside the Spazziani siblings.
In 2006, there were accusations of plagiarism regarding their song 'Deus de Milagres,' which the band denied. Their positions on social matters, including LGBT rights, have drawn varied responses from different parts of the Christian community.
