Misanthropic Mayhem formed in Trondheim, Norway in 1993. The band's founding members Solstice and Tormentum were involved in a church desecration incident that drew local attention early on. They released a demo called 'Necrology' that same year.
Their 1995 self-titled album contained tracks like 'The Day The Sun Failed To Rise' and a cover of Gorelord's 'Dismembered Virgin Limbs.' The music combined raw guitar work with lyrics that expressed a bleak, confrontational worldview. Their live shows sometimes turned chaotic.
By 1997, the band had broken up. The lineup included Solstice on vocals, Tormentum on guitar, Ophidian on bass, and Grim on drums. They left behind a small catalog that still circulates among black metal listeners.
