Missão de Paz

Missão de Paz formed in São Paulo in 1979, a group of young Christians led by vocalist Luiz Marcos. They started by sharing cassettes and playing live shows, working against some skepticism from both religious and secular corners. Their song 'Aguenta Coração' became a major hit in 1989, connecting with listeners during a tough economic period in Brazil.

That track, along with others like 'Quero Mergulhar,' carried straightforward messages of hope and endurance. The band's approach sometimes drew criticism for mixing religious themes with accessible pop sounds, but they kept at it, releasing albums through the 1980s and 1990s. Luiz Marcos handled most of the writing and singing, backed by members like Paulo César on bass and Guilherme Kerr on keyboards.

They never really stopped, putting out records into the 2000s, including 2008's 'No Caminho da Vida.' Their music stays in rotation on Brazilian radio, especially those early anthems that people still sing along to.
