Mister X formed in Sydney in 1976 when vocalist Steve De Marchi and guitarist Dale Lind met. They put together a lineup with Sean Beavan on bass and Andy Anderson on drums. Their debut single "T.N.T." came out not long after and caught on with Australian rock listeners.
The band's self-titled debut album arrived in 1978, followed by "Electric Shock" in 1979 and "Outbreak" in 1980. They toured through Asia and Europe. At some point they had a legal issue over the "T.N.T." name that ended in a settlement with AC/DC.
