Mizraab formed in 1996 with percussionist Humera Arshad, vocalist Faiza Mujahid, and guitarist Arshad Mehmood. They started playing live shows while dealing with limited resources, building a following gradually rather than through any sudden breakthrough.
Their debut album 'Saaz-e-Junoon' came out in 2002, with the title track getting some attention. They followed it with 'Rang' in 2004 and 'Khuda' in 2007. The song 'Insaan' became particularly well-known for its straightforward lyrics about social issues.
Their music often touches on themes like inequality and human struggles in plain language. While some of their more direct songs like 'Insaan' drew criticism from conservative listeners, they kept writing in that vein through albums like 'Raag' in 2010 and an album also called 'Insaan' in 2013.
