Mobióticos formed as a trio in São Paulo in the early 2000s, with DJs Erik (Fanta) and Pepe (Koxxx-8) working alongside vocalist Renato Alves. They came up during a time when electronic music was still finding its footing in Brazil, playing shows and figuring out their sound.
Their 2006 debut album 'Cidade' gave them a breakthrough. The title track 'Cidade' became something of an anthem, its moody electronic textures and Renato's vocals capturing a certain feeling of São Paulo's urban life. The album got them wider attention and led to touring.
They followed with albums like 'Vivenda' in 2009, 'O Deserto' in 2013, and 'Hypno' in 2017. Other songs like 'Eu Sou Aquele' and 'Você Sabe' became part of their set. In 2015, their song 'Brasileirinho' drew criticism and an apology from the band over concerns about racial stereotypes.
