Moises Cleyton

Moises Cleyton came from Jequié, Bahia, and started making music influenced by local rhythms and artists like Alceu Valença and Caetano Veloso. His first album, 'Canto da Terra,' came out in 1995, but it was his second album in 1997 that really connected with people. The title track 'Meu Barquinho' became a hit in Brazil, a ballad about longing that people still remember.

He had other songs that found an audience too, like 'Depois da Prova' and 'Eu Vou Subir.' In the early 2000s, he got into a legal fight with his old label over who owned his songs, which went on for years. He also spoke openly about things like same-sex marriage and government corruption, which didn't sit well with everyone in Brazil at the time.

His music stayed pretty straightforward, melodic, with lyrics that tried to say something. He kept recording after that, with songs like 'Os Sonhos de Deus' and 'Adorando e Vencendo' appearing in his catalog.
