Yelo Molo formed in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, with Bedel "Beddy" Dega on guitar, Jérémie "Jerem" Krou handling vocals and bass, and David "Didi" Tayora on drums. They released their debut album "Bamanan" in 2006. Their song "À Y Penser" became a breakout single, with Jerem's vocals connecting with listeners.
Jean "Djanta" Kouassi later joined as a guitarist. The band's music pulls from traditional African rhythms and contemporary pop, heard in tracks like "Alcyon" and "Coeur De Pomme." They've released several albums including "La Machine" in 2008 and "À Contre-Courant" in 2016.
Their lyrics sometimes drew criticism from conservative audiences, leading to some censorship in certain countries. They kept performing and recording despite that.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
