momo-I

Momo-I formed in Osaka around 2012, a Japanese group that worked with opera and pop. Their song "Opera Fantasia" became their most recognizable piece. The trio included vocalist Momoka Nishiyama, pianist Mayu Wakisaka, and cellist Ayaka Suzumori.

They released several albums, starting with their 2013 debut also called Opera Fantasia. Later records like Angelic Harmony and Beyond the Horizon came out in 2015 and 2017. Their sound sometimes incorporated electronic elements alongside the classical instrumentation.

Early on, some critics questioned whether opera and pop could work together, but the group kept performing. They didn't fit neatly into either traditional opera or mainstream pop, which made their music stand out in a particular way.
