Mona & Lisa were a Dutch singing duo made up of sisters Heleen and Leonie van den Hombergh. They formed in 1973 after being discovered by record producer Hans van Hemert.
In 1977, they released "Yes Sir, I Can Boogie," which became a major hit across Europe. The song's success was complicated by allegations that its melody was lifted from an Australian band called The Flies, though these claims were never fully proven.
They put out other singles like "You Can't Be Wasting My Time" and albums including "Boogie Woogie Saturday Night" and "Real Emotion." Their sound was built around catchy melodies and a straightforward disco beat.
The duo disbanded in 1988. Heleen went on to work as a solo artist, while Leonie stepped away from music entirely.
