Monaco was a London band that formed in the late 1980s. Their debut album came out in 1990, featuring the song "What Do You Want From Me?" which became their most recognizable track.

That single had a certain pull with its straightforward melody and Gary Briggs's vocal delivery. Other songs like "Blue" and "Shine" appeared on that same album, giving listeners a sense of the band's basic pop-rock approach at the time.

After some lineup changes in the early 1990s, the group eventually disbanded in 1995. They did reunite briefly in 2008 for some shows and a compilation release.
