Monarchy

Monarchy is a Swedish electro-pop duo formed in Stockholm around 2005 by vocalist Rahel Rahkam and producer Johan Angergård. Their debut single "The Phoenix" came out in 2007, followed by albums like In the Night in 2008 and The Birth of Love in 2009. They've worked with various collaborators, including Dita Von Teese on the track "Disintegration."

Their music tends toward ethereal pop with electronic textures, though they've shifted sounds at times, like on 2011's The Tears That Taste of Rain, which brought in some rock and industrial elements. Songs such as "Living Without You" and "Almost Human" reflect their blend of airy melodies and more grounded production.

By 2015, they returned to electro-pop with the album Bastards. The duo's work has drawn attention for its unconventional approach and sometimes provocative choices, but they've kept a relatively low profile in terms of mainstream exposure.
