Monobright formed in 2000 with vocalist Yasuko Onuki, guitarist Takahiro Murasame, bassist Hiroyuki Suzuki, and drummer Sosuke Kishimoto. They came out of Tokyo's underground scene, and their music pulled from classical, jazz, and electronic sounds. Their debut album 'A Place Where We Belong' arrived in 2004, and its single '20th Century Lovers Orchestra' got them some mainstream attention.
After that, they put out albums like 'Zero Signal' in 2006 and 'The Sealer' in 2009, each shifting their sound a bit. 'A Book in the Ceiling' followed in 2012. Drummer Kishimoto left in 2008, and Daisuke Fujita joined on drums.
