Archive material and source history

Monstrosity formed in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 1990, with founding members Mike Scheidt on vocals, Tony Norman on guitar, and Lee Harrison on drums. They were part of that early Florida death metal scene, working out their sound through some lineup changes before recording their first album.

Their debut 'Chemical Reaction' came out in 1991 and became a significant release in death metal circles. The title track, along with songs like 'Destroying Divinity' and 'Imperial Doom,' showed their approach to the genre with its technical riffs and aggressive drumming. The album's artwork and lyrics drew some attention from conservative groups at the time.

After that first album, they kept recording through the 1990s and beyond, putting out material like 'A Casket For The Soul' and 'Abysmal Gods.' Their sound stayed rooted in that technical death metal style they established early on.
