Morality's Asylum

Morality's Asylum formed in the late 1990s around brothers Ethan and Caleb Hayes in Arcadia, California, with bassist Max Carter and drummer Jake Wilson. They built a local following with what was described as a raw, unconventional sound. In 2003, their debut album 'Broken Promises' got some critical attention for its aggressive approach and introspective lyrics, which helped move them beyond the local circuit.

Their second album in 2007 took the band's name from one of its tracks, 'Honor Among Thieves.' That song became their breakout single, known for its message about unity and rebellion. The album's success brought them wider recognition and a major label deal, though the existing history notes that as their profile rose, so did scrutiny of Ethan Hayes's lyrics and the band's internal dynamics.

Beyond 'Honor Among Thieves,' their catalog includes songs like 'Disregarded Morality' and 'The Clockwork Paradigm.' The band's material often dealt with challenging themes, which resonated with some audiences but also contributed to a contentious period for the group in the early 2010s.
