Morphia

Morphia formed at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, where a group of musicians came together around atmospheric, ethereal music. The band was led by vocalist and songwriter Emily Haines, and their sound drew from dream pop and shoegaze influences, with some listeners hearing echoes of artists like Cocteau Twins and Kate Bush in their work.

Their debut album was called 'The Speed of Trees,' which established their approach with layered guitars and Haines' distinctive vocals. Songs like 'Meaning Of Forever I' and 'Memories Never Die' typify their style, introspective, often somber, and built around haunting melodic lines.
