Background notes

Archive material and source history

Mosh Ben-Ari was born in Jerusalem to a family with Moroccan and Tunisian roots. He started making music in the late 1990s, and his debut album 'Straight Out of Palestine' came out around 1999. A few years later he put out self-titled work in 2002, followed by 'Jerusalem' in 2004 and 'The Healer' in 2006.

His songs often touch on spiritual themes, drawing from traditions like Rastafarianism and Kabbalah. One of his better-known tracks is 'Jah Is One, Elohim,' which calls for religious tolerance.

Over time he's worked with musicians like bassist Uri Weinstock, drummer Aviram Burg, guitarist Oz Noy, and keyboardist Jonathan Fox. Later albums include 'Be Man' from 2009, 'Interrupted Journey' from 2015, and 'Believer' from 2018.
