Mosquito formed in Rio de Janeiro in the late 1970s with Marcelo Nova on vocals, Rick Ferreira on guitar, Fausto Fawcett on bass, and André Prando on drums. They put out their first album in 1984 and followed it with several more through the early 1990s, including 'O Filho da Mãe' in 1991. That song, along with tracks like 'Ô Sorte' and 'A Gente Fez Amor', became staples for them.
Their music often ran into trouble with authorities. The band's lineup shifted over time, and members pursued other projects, Nova went solo, and Ferreira later formed Dr. Sin.
