Moushumi

Moushumi is a musical collective from Kolkata, India, centered around vocalist Moushumi Roy. They started performing in the early 2000s, playing small venues and local festivals while building a following. Roy, who had classical training, wrote introspective lyrics that drew from personal experiences.

In 2007, they released their debut album "Moments," which included the song "Alone." That track became their breakthrough, with Roy's vocals over delicate guitar work creating a vulnerable, haunting feel. It gained attention in India and helped the group tour more widely.

After "Alone," Moushumi continued to perform and record, maintaining their focus on soulful, melodic material. Their sound stayed rooted in Roy's voice and songwriting, which kept a core audience engaged even as musical trends shifted around them.
