Mr. Homicidio formed in Mexico City in 1996 with members Rafael Sánchez, Javier Vega, and Alejandro González. They spent several years playing shows and working on their material before things started to click. Their 2000 single 'Angels' became their breakthrough, a track that caught people's attention with its moody atmosphere and thoughtful lyrics.
That song gave the band some momentum, and they released their debut album, also called 'Angels', that same year. They followed it with two more records, 'Beyond the Darkness' in 2003 and 'The Path of Shadows' in 2009. Their sound pulled from rock and folk, with a darker, more introspective edge that showed up in songs like 'Black Eyes Of Death' and 'Opiato'.
Their lyrics often dealt with heavier themes, loss, searching, the darker corners of experience. They weren't a huge commercial act, but they built a following in the Mexican rock scene for their particular blend of sounds and their willingness to sit with difficult subjects. The band's recorded output stopped after 2009.
