Mr Jam

Mr Jam was a British pop band formed in the early 1980s, with members Mo Foster on vocals, Dean Butler on bass, Ronnie Leitch on guitar, and Tony Martin on drums. Their 1984 debut album, also called Mr Jam, included the track "Cruisin'" that became an international hit. The song's upbeat tempo and simple groove connected with listeners, though some critics at the time dismissed the band as lightweight.

After "Cruisin'," the group kept recording through the 1980s and into the early 1990s. They put out albums like The Second Jam in 1985, Sweet Surrender in 1987, and Gold in 1990. Other songs in their catalog include "Beijo Na Boca," "Rebola na Boa," "Golden People," and "Someday." None of those later releases reached the same commercial peak as their first single.

There were claims that "Cruisin'" borrowed too closely from another song, which led to some public debate. The band defended their work, but the plagiarism talk became part of the story around their early success. For a certain period in the 1980s, Mr Jam's music came to represent a particular kind of breezy, carefree pop.
