Mr. Natural

Mr. Natural was a band that formed in the late 1960s with Gary Duncan on guitar and vocals, Pat Simmons on bass and vocals, David Getz on drums, and Wally Bryson on keyboards. They put out three albums between 1971 and 1973, simply titled 'Mr. Natural,' 'II,' and 'III.' Their sound was a loose, improvisational mix of rock and jazz that fit right into the psychedelic scene of the time.

Their best-known track is 'That Green Jesus,' a song that got some radio play but also ran into trouble with stations that thought it promoted drug use. The lyrics touched on mysticism and the environment, which resonated with the counterculture. The band's live shows were known for stretching songs out and creating a kind of spiritual atmosphere.

David Getz died in 1977, which effectively ended the band's run. Their music has been mentioned as an influence by other artists from that era, but they never achieved widespread commercial success. For a brief period in the early 1970s, they captured a certain psychedelic mood that still comes through on recordings like 'That Green Jesus.'
