Mr. Powerfull formed in Detroit in 1972 with Johnny "Rev" Rexler on vocals and rhythm guitar, Eddie "Smoke" McCloud on lead guitar, Tony "Thunder" Monroe on bass, and Jimmy "Wildman" Watkins on drums. Their debut album "Burnin' Rubber" came out in 1975 and caught some attention for its live-show energy.
In 1977 they released "Big V8," a song about muscle cars that became their biggest hit. It also drew criticism from people who thought it encouraged reckless driving. The band said it was really about freedom.
They put out a few more albums like "High Octane" in 1979, "Full Throttle" in 1982, and "Renegade" in 1985. Other songs in their catalog include "Deadly Game," "Defender's Of The Black Faith," "Empty Night," and "Evil Eyes."
