Mr. Simple

Mr. Simple is a band from Rio de Janeiro that formed in 2014. The group includes Filipe Catto on vocals, João Cavalcanti on guitar, Tiago Silva on bass, and Cristiano Galvão on drums. They put out their debut album in 2016, which was also called "A Rua."

That album's title track, "A Rua," became their breakout song. It's a piece about the streets that shaped them, and it caught on with listeners. Other songs from that period include "Fim da Noite," "Gandaia," and "Hipnótica."

Their sound pulls from different places, some Brazilian rhythms, some soul, some rock. They've faced some pushback over how they depict city life, but they've kept at it, working in a space between celebration and social observation.
