Muff Potter

Muff Potter started playing punk in Berlin around 1989, with Mirko Gläser on vocals, Andreas Fritz on guitar, Christian Lässig on bass, and Arne Heintze on drums. Their first album came out in 1991, and they kept a steady lineup for years, which gave their music a consistent, rough-edged feel. Songs like 'Bambule' and 'Die etwas öde Ballade der Tristessa M.' became staples in their set, driven by Fritz's guitar work and Gläser's raw delivery.

They put out records like 'Nobody Knows' in 1995 and 'Greenhorn' in 1998, mixing punk with bits of hardcore and ska without smoothing out the edges. Their lyrics often touched on social themes, which sometimes got them into trouble with authorities, but they didn't tone things down. Tracks such as 'Die Party ist vorbei' and 'Alles War Schön Und Nichts Tat Weh' kept that energy alive, sticking to the underground scene that first supported them.

Over time, their sound evolved a bit, but they never strayed far from that initial burst of Berlin punk. They kept playing shows and recording, with Gläser's presence anchoring the band through different phases. Songs like 'Alles Was Ich Brauch' show how they maintained that direct, unfussy approach, even as the years went by.
