Müge Zümrütbel

Müge Zümrütbel was born in Istanbul in 1965. She started writing her own songs as a teenager, drawing from Turkish folk music and Western pop. In the early 1990s, she signed with producer Erol Köse and released her debut album in 1994.

That album's title track, 'Bir Tek Aşkım Var Sana Emanet,' became a national hit. Her voice carried the song's straightforward lyrics about devotion, and it established her presence in Turkish music at the time.

Her music mixed Turkish traditional melodies with contemporary pop. She faced some criticism in what was then a male-dominated industry, but kept writing and performing songs that connected with listeners.
