Muhabbet formed in Germany around 2001, with Matthias Arfmann on vocals and guitar, Daniel Kartmann on bass, and Achim Färber on drums. Their debut album 'The Art of Losing' came out in 2003, and the song '1 Liebesliedchen' from it caught on widely. They followed that with a second album, 'Alles wird gut', in 2005.
Their music pulled from classical and Turkish melodies, which gave it a distinct feel. Arfmann's lyrics often dealt with love and loss, and sometimes stirred up discussion. The band's third album, 'Fin', arrived in 2008 and sounded different from their earlier work.
