Muireadach

Muireadach formed in the late 1990s when four friends from Ireland, sisters Siobhan and Deirdre Moynihan, their brother Kieran, and Orlaith O'Dea, began playing together with a shared interest in traditional music. They didn't have formal training, which gave their early work a raw quality that some listeners connected with.

Their first album, "I Will Live Forever," came out in 2000 and gave the band its most recognizable song. The track has a haunting vocal quality that became something of a signature for them, even as they moved toward blending Celtic melodies with more contemporary arrangements on later records like "Ceol na Féinne" and "The Sky in Your Eyes."

Some traditional music critics weren't fond of the band's approach, feeling they strayed too far from convention. But Muireadach kept working, releasing albums through the 2000s and playing concerts in Ireland and abroad. Their sound stayed rooted in those early vocal harmonies, even as the instrumentation around them shifted.
