Shawn Mullins

Shawn Mullins is a singer-songwriter from Atlanta who started playing local clubs in the early 1990s. His 1998 debut album 'Soul's Core' got some attention, but it was the follow-up 'Beneath the Velvet Sky' the next year that really connected. That album's single 'Lullaby' became a hit on adult contemporary radio and pushed the record past two million copies.

Mullins writes in a straightforward folk style, often with a conversational tone. Songs like 'Eggshells' and 'All Fall Down' show his preference for plainspoken lyrics over elaborate production. He's released several albums since, including 'My Stupid Heart' in 2015, but 'Lullaby' remains what most people know him for.

In 2003, Mullins was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, which he's spoken about affecting his work. He kept recording through that period, putting out albums like 'Pine Box' that same year and 'Honeydew' in 2008. His father was a concert promoter, and Mullins has mentioned growing up hearing Dylan and The Beatles around the house.
