The group faced skepticism as women in a patriarchal society, with some dismissing their traditional Guatemalan music as inferior to Western genres.
Their song 'Bety & July' came out in 1967 and became a hit, a ballad about unrequited love that resonated beyond Guatemala. They released other albums like 'Canciones de mi Tierra' in 1968 and 'Recuerdos de Sololá' in 1972.
