Archive material and source history
Munhoz came out of Mato Grosso do Sul playing a regional style called Estilo Sul-Matogrossense. The band started with Mazinho Munhoz on vocals and guitar, Ronaldo Alves on bass, and Jean Carlo on drums, playing local bars and festivals. Their first album, "Caipira Universitário," came out in 2009.
Their sound mixed sertanejo with axé and pagode rhythms, using instruments like the viola caipira and berrante. Songs like "Estilo Sulmatogrossense" and "Houdini" show that approach. They put out several more records after that, including "Sem Filtro" in 2011 and "Essência" in 2019.
