Muniz Teixeira & Joãozinho

Muniz Teixeira and Joãzinho first met in Rio de Janeiro's samba scene in the late 1970s. Muniz played guitar and sang, while Joãzinho handled percussion. Their debut album came out in 1983 and included the song "Barco de Papel," which became their most recognizable track.

That song's success brought them wider attention in Brazil. They kept recording through the 1980s, putting out albums like "Mutirão de Esperança" in 1985 and "No Caminho do Coração" later that decade. Other songs from their catalog include "Criminosa," "Leitão à Pururuca," and "Pé Vermelho."
