Archive material and source history
Munjack started in São Paulo in 1994, with André X on vocals and guitar, Marcos Kleine on bass, and Felipe Pacheco on drums. Their sound pulled from post-punk and grunge, giving it a raw, emotional edge that fit the Brazilian underground scene at the time. They put out albums like 'Estilhaços' in 1997 and 'O Silêncio Das Estrelas' in 2000, building a following with songs that felt visceral and direct.
In 2001, Kleine died, which shook the band deeply. André X and Pacheco kept going, bringing in new members and releasing 'A Dor Do Abandono' in 2002. That album's title track, along with others like 'Memórias' and 'Não Corra', dealt plainly with loss and social issues, sometimes stirring up debate. Munjack broke up in 2006, but got back together for a tour in 2016.
