Munnriður

Munnriður is an Icelandic duo that formed in Reykjavík around 2015. The name translates to "Moonflight," and the group consists of vocalist Ísold Blackardóttir and multi-instrumentalist Ingibjörg Sigurðardóttir. Their music draws from Icelandic folklore and dream pop, creating ethereal soundscapes that feel rooted in their environment.

Their debut single "Vígtennt Sköp" came out in 2016 and became their most recognized work. The song's haunting melody and Ísold's vocals over Ingibjörg's instrumentation created a distinctive atmosphere that resonated with listeners. It helped establish their sound and brought them attention beyond Iceland.

The duo has maintained a somewhat private presence, releasing music without extensive public promotion. They've put out several albums including Tíð in 2017, Þýði in 2019, and Í in 2021. Their approach focuses on the music itself rather than personal narratives or interviews.
