Mushroom Head

Mushroomhead formed in Cleveland in 1993, starting as a project called Hypnotica before settling on their permanent name. The band's early lineup included bassist Jason Popson and vocalist Jeffrey Nothing, who were later joined by guitarists Jack Kilborn and Steve Felton, along with drummer Steve Felton. They added vocalist and keyboardist Jason Popson to round out the group.

By the late 1990s, Mushroomhead had developed their distinctive visual identity with elaborate masks worn by each member. Their self-titled debut album came out in 1999 and included the track "43." Their live shows became known for theatrical elements like pyrotechnics and simulated violence, which drew attention both positive and negative.

The band experienced lineup changes over time, including Jeffrey Nothing's departure in 2004 due to creative differences. Waylon Reavis joined as a replacement vocalist, bringing a different energy to the group. Internal tensions surfaced, and in 2018 former drummer Kimberly Martin filed a lawsuit over unpaid royalties and breach of contract.
