Muskito was an Argentinian rock band formed in 1973, led by singer and songwriter Luis Alberto Spinetta. Before that, Spinetta had been part of the group Almendra in the late 1960s and released a solo album called 'Artaud' in 1973. Muskito's lineup included bassist Emilio del Guercio, drummer Oscar Moro, and keyboardist Rodolfo García.
Their first album, 'Olimpo', came out in 1973 and gave the band its name. The title track 'Olimpo' became a well-known song in Argentine rock. Muskito's music mixed rock with jazz and classical touches, which set them apart from other bands at the time.
They followed up with albums like 'Durazno Sangrando' in 1975 and 'A 18' del Sol' in 1977. Spinetta's lyrics often had a complex, thoughtful quality, and the band kept experimenting with their sound through these releases.
