My Bloody Valentine

My Bloody Valentine formed in Dublin in 1983 with Kevin Shields on guitar and vocals, Colm Ó Cíosóig on bass, and Dave Conway on drums. Their early years saw lineup shifts and financial strain, but they kept working on their sound through steady experimentation.

In 1991 they released their second album, Loveless, which became their most recognized work. The recording took over two years and strained their relationship with their label, but the result was a dense, immersive record built from Shields' meticulous production. Songs like "When You Sleep" and "Only Shallow" wrapped distorted guitars in hazy, melodic layers.

Their discography includes Isn't Anything from 1988, Loveless, and m b v in 2013. The band's approach to noise and texture has been cited by other artists, but they've mostly stayed out of the spotlight, letting the records speak for themselves.
